A simple and efficient equipment loan app for Paz employees.
A Day in the Life of a Geneticist
This case study highlights the design and development of an internal equipment loan app for Paz , designed to simplify borrowing, ensure a consistent UI, and improve daily efficiency.
Background
Paz, a leading gas station chain, recognized the need to optimize its internal equipment loan system. The existing process was paper-based and time-consuming, resulting in inefficiencies and delays. In addition, managers were not able to efficiently track the overall effectiveness in order to optimize processes and inventory. Additionally, Paz aimed to establish a uniform design language for its internal applications to enhance user experience and reduce training time for employees.
The Problem
β π π Inefficient Equipment Loan Process
The manual, paper-based system was inefficient and prone to errors, resulting in delays in daily work for employees.
β π¨ β³ Lack of Design Consistency
Inconsistent design across Pazβs apps caused employee confusion and extended training time.
Paper-based workflows caused delays, making tracking and management harder for managers.
The Solution
To address these issues, we embarked on a comprehensive redesign project:
β π± π οΈ Digital Equipment Loan App
Β A user-friendly app for Paz employees to request, track, and manage equipment loans, eliminating paperwork and speeding up the process.
β β‘ β³ Optimized Borrow & Return Flow
A streamlined flow with minimal clicks to optimize the borrowing and returning process, ensuring efficiency and a seamless user experience for Paz employees.
β ππΒ Tracking
Β Allows management to track the borrowed equipment providing enhanced control and oversight
β π π¨ Uniform Design Language
We created a unified design language with a clean, intuitive interface for all internal apps, enhancing user experience and reducing employees’ learning curve.
Market Research
As part of my research, we wanted it to be intuitive, so we took inspiration from different apps with a popular UX concepts
Whatsapp
A free, multiplatform messaging app that lets you make video and voice calls, send text messages, and more.
Connecteam App
A feature for creating forms in the Connecteam application is an employee management application that connects everything a business needs from the field to the office, all in one place.
Conclusions from my market research:
Whatsapp
The way of editing the list of chats on WhatsApp gave me inspiration for how to use it when a user needs to select equipment to return.
Connectteam App
The digital signature appears in a pop-up, possibly to prevent interference while scrolling. However, research shows that a button alone is a more convenient way to activate and lock the digital signature than using a pop-up.
Personas
we created user personas as Paz employees to guide our design decisions
Dana
Logistics coordinator at Paz
Dana is still learning the system and needs a clear, intuitive interface. A user-friendly app helps her request, track, and manage equipment loans efficiently, eliminating paperwork.
Avi
Field technician at Paz
Avi frequently borrows equipment while working under time constraints, so he needs a fast and simple process to check availability, borrow, and return items with a streamlined flow and minimal clicks.
Wireframes
After my research I created wireframes focusing on the main user flow for a first-time user. My goal was to create a simple, user-friendly flow for quick and simple borrowing and returning process.
User flow 1
borrowing equipment
User flow 2
Returning equipment
Final Design
user flow of choosing products to borrow and the signing process
UI Guide
Taking into consideration the exists branding design, I aimed to make the existing design more clean, clear and bright design for an modern and technology fill.
